Pedestrian accident in Manhattan leaves 2 injured

On June 15, police were called to the scene of an accident that occurred in Manhattan. An SUV reportedly struck two pedestrians, injuring them both. The victims of this pedestrian accident, according to New York laws, may have legal recourse.

According to a local news report, the driver of an SUV made a right-hand turn onto West 37th Street from Ninth Avenue and struck a livery cab. Instead of stopping, he continued going and ran into the back of the van. After hitting the van, the SUV jumped the curb, hit two pedestrians, struck two tree planters and then came to a stop after hitting a building.

The victims, a male and female who are both said to be in their 40s, were both taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. As of the last report, the female suffered a head and leg injury and the male suffered a leg injury. Both were reportedly in stable condition.

Other than the SUV driver being reported as a male, no other information about this individual is available. He is said to be cooperating with police. No charges have been filed in this case as of yet.

Getting hurt in a pedestrian accident can have long-term physical, psychological and financial effects. At this point, it is hard to say exactly how those injured in this wreck will fare going forward.
