According to reports, a 26-year-old male, for reasons unknown, drove his vehicle at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction on a sidewalk and hit a group of pedestrians in Times Square. A total of 22 people were injured and a teenage girl lost her life in the incident. A few of the injured refused medical treatment, while the rest were transported to a hospital for care. At least four individuals are said to have suffered serious injuries.
The driver is said to be a Bronx native with a history of driving while impaired. It is still unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in this particular accident. Even though the investigation into this matter is still ongoing, this individual has already been charged with attempted murder and vehicular homicide. Further charges may still be filed.
