Drunk driving believed responsible for recent pedestrian accident

Several people were injured and one person was killed in a recent auto-pedestrian accident in New York. Authorities claim that drunk driving was the main factor in this case. As such, the individual deemed responsible for the wreck has been arrested and charged for the incident.

According to reports, in mid-July, a 28-year-old male is said to have been driving in Williamsburg when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a total of four pedestrians. A witness claims to have seen this gentleman speeding and driving erratically before the crash occurred. The victims — two men and two women, all in their 20s — were all transported to Bellevue Hospital. One of the male victims reportedly died of his injuries and at least one other individual is said to have suffered serious injuries. The current conditions of the surviving victims were not reported.

Authorities say that the driver was arrested soon after this crash occurred. He has been charged with DUI, vehicular manslaughter and manslaughter. At this time, court dates regarding his case have not been reported.

Sadly, drunk driving is responsible for numerous auto and auto-pedestrian accidents in New York and elsewhere. In this particular case, the injured individuals and the surviving family members of the deceased may have legal recourse. Through filing wrongful death and personal injury claims in civil court, those negatively affected by this incident may be able to achieve compensation for their losses — if litigation is successful. This can be accomplished if driver negligence can be established to the satisfaction of the court.
