Fatal accident in New York results after night of partying

It is estimated that one in three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime. Despite the known dangers associated with drinking and driving, lives continue to senselessly be lost in alcohol related crashes. An impaired driver in New York is believed to be responsible for a fatal accident that recently claimed the life of one man and injured four others.

After a night of apparent heavy partying in New York, the nephew of model/actor Tyson Beckford allegedly stole a box truck and ultimately caused a fatal accident. The young man was reportedly removed from a local nightclub around 3:30 a.m. and then from a hotel after he was found passed out inside. Aggravated that he could not locate his limousine, he is said to have begun to behave irrationally. Witnesses believed that he was heavily intoxicated.

The truck was reportedly taken sometime around 5 a.m. from the garage of a hotel near the party he had attended earlier. Just a few blocks from that garage, his vehicle slammed into a MTA bus, ejecting the bus driver. The man, a local husband and father, was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision sent both vehicles skidding down the sidewalk, injuring four other innocent victims. Their injuries were not life threatening.

The driver of the stolen truck is now facing a multitude of criminal charges. Since negligence appears to be a factor in the fatal accident, the surviving family members of the bus driver may elect to file a wrongful death claim against the young man, and personal injury claims may similarly be pursued by the injured victims. New York residents reserve the right to seek compensation for losses suffered in an accident caused by the negligent actions of another. When serious injuries and/or fatalities result, the injured victims and surviving family members are often left with large financial burdens. A successful claim may alleviate some of those burdens, allowing the families and/or victims to focus on healing after a traumatic accident.
