New York woman’s celebration ended in a fatal car accident

A new job is certainly reason to celebrate, and, recently, a New York woman was doing just that. She was excited about her new job and was celebrating with her friends. However, her celebration was brought to an abrupt end when she was hit and killed by an alleged drunk driver in a fatal car accident.

Police state that a man who had supposedly been drinking was driving his truck in the wrong traffic lane along Interstate 490. He crashed into the woman’s SUV, causing it to roll over. The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was declared dead.

Drinking and driving does not just happen by accident. The driver makes the decision to drink. He then also makes the decision to drive. When these two decisions are combined, the results can be tragic.

In this particular instance, a young woman is dead, potentially as the result of such a drunk driver. Additionally, a young man now faces numerous felony charges as a result of this alleged drunk driving fatal car accident. It is also possible that the victim’s family may decide to pursue a wrongful death suit against the driver.

In New York, as well as other states, the family of someone killed in a fatal car accident as a result of a drunk driver may decide to seek financial restitution in a wrongful death suit. A successfully litigated claim will not change the situation or bring the victim back. It could, however, provide the family with the financial means necessary to cover funeral expenses as well as other financial losses resulting from a driver’s negligent actions.
