Police and fire officials were called to the scene of a crash on the Brooklyn Bridge the day before Thanksgiving. One person was killed and six others were injured in this multi-car accident. According to the laws of New York, the victims of this collision and the surviving family members of the deceased may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses.
At approximately 7 a.m., on Nov. 21, several vehicles collided on the bridge that crosses the East River. The accident occurred on the side heading toward Brooklyn, but the entire bridge had to be shut down for rescue and cleanup crews to work which caused major traffic delays in the area. Video of the scene shows one or more vehicles engulfed in flames.
No information was released about any of the victims. Authorities have not reported an official cause of the crash. It is unclear if any charges have been filed against any of the drivers involved.
The details of a multi-car accident can take time to iron out. Eventually, with the help of victims, witnesses and accident investigators, what caused this tragic event will be documented. If driver negligence contributed to this event, the injured victims and possibly the family members of the deceased may seek monetary damages for any losses they have experienced as a result of this wreck. Those who would like to file civil claims against the party or parties believed responsible can turn to legal counsel for a case review and assistance pursuing relief in a New York civil court — if doing so is deemed appropriate.
