Police in New York have arrested the individual said to be responsible for hitting a young boy with his car as a result of a road rage incident. The pedestrian accident happened in Brooklyn on Sunday, Jan. 22. Due to the nature of this accident, the injured victim may have legal recourse.
It was recently reported that the driver of a Porsche SUV became impatient when the driver of a Honda CRV was backing out of a parking spot on near Manhattan and Greenpoint Avenue. The Porche’s driver — a 39-year-old male — attempted to go around the car, but the Honda hit his SUV in the process. He then slammed on the gas pedal and jumped a curb and hit a 14-year-old teen standing on the corner. The teenager suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. His current condition is unknown, though he is expected to survive.
Shortly after the incident, authorities arrested the driver of the Porche. The charge against him is reckless endangerment. It is unknown if any court dates have been set for his case.
Sadly, road rage is a significant problem in New York and elsewhere. Nothing good comes from it, and people are often hurt, such as in this case. The victim of this pedestrian accident is entitled to seek compensation for his losses, and his parents or guardians may do the same. This can be done by filing personal injury and any other applicable legal claims in civil court. If successful, fair and full compensation may be awarded.
