New York truck accident: Several killed and injured in crash

Police in New York are investigating a recent crash that occurred on the Cross Bronx Expressway. This truck accident is said to have involved two semis and two passenger cars. Three people were killed in the wreck, and another three suffered serious injuries.

This crash occurred in the early morning of Tuesday, Dec. 28. According to reports, the driver of an 18-wheeler came to an abrupt stop near Webster Avenue, forcing the drivers behind it to also try to quickly brake. The driver of a pickup truck was able to stop successfully, but two other vehicles — a semi and a passenger car — were unable to stop in time, and a chain-reaction crash occurred.

Five people were in the pickup truck at the time of the collision. Three of them were killed in the crash, while the other two were hurt and transported to a medical center in serious condition. One person in the other passenger car was also injured and transported to an area hospital. The drivers of the semis and a passenger in one of the big rigs were all uninjured in the wreck.

At this time, authorities do no believe impairment contributed to this multi-vehicle truck accident. The official investigation into this matter is still ongoing. It is unknown if any criminal charges are pending against any of the drivers involved.

The victims and surviving family members of the deceased individuals are likely to have numerous questions about how this truck accident happened and what, if any, financial relief is available to them. In accordance with the state of New York, these individuals may file civil claims against the driver or drivers believed responsible for the event. If that happens to be one or both of the semi drivers, legal claims may also be filed against their employers. Claims that are successfully litigated may receive fair and full compensation for any documented losses.
