A New York man has been charged for his role in a fatal crash. The car accident reportedly occurred June 7. According to police, this individual was driving in the wrong direction when his vehicle slammed into another vehicle.
This collision occurred just before midnight on the Henry Hudson Parkway. A 23-year-old male was reportedly driving a minivan that he allegedly crashed into several parked cars before turning onto the parkway, heading north in the southbound lanes. His van struck a car with two occupants — a 53-year-old male and a 54-year-old female. The female passenger died at the hospital shortly after the wreck, while the other victim was admitted in stable condition.
The individual believed responsible for this incident was also injured and transported to a medical facility for treatment, as was a passenger in his vehicle. The driver has since been charged with assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and manslaughter. It is unknown if court dates have been scheduled in his case.
Family members of the deceased as well as the surviving victims of this car accident may, according to the laws of New York, have legal recourse. Personal injury, wrongful death and any other appropriate claims may be filed against the driver deemed responsible for this crash. For each individual claim, negligence will need to be established in court. If this can be successfully accomplished, the victims and the decedent’s loved ones may be granted monetary compensation for the various losses they have sustained as a result of this tragic event.
