Suspect flees the scene of pedestrian accident in New York

It is typically considered a crime to leave the scene of an accident causing an injury. In New York, a recent pedestrian accident in Nassau County left one person injured and investigators with questions surrounding the odd behavior of the driver before fleeing the scene of the crash. Once officers are able to piece together the evidence in this case, the injured victim may have grounds for a personal injury lawsuit.

Officers continue to seek information in the ongoing investigation of the recent hit-and-run pedestrian accident. According to reports, a man was crossing the street around 6 p.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck fled the scene of the accident after stopping and covering the victim with a blanket.

The 54-year-old victim sustained multiple injuries and was listed in serious condition. Police statements indicate that the man suffered a broken pelvis as well as severe lacerations to the head. It is unclear at this time what might have motivated the driver to flee after stopping to cover the victim.
