It is commonplace in many households for families to spend their evenings gathered together in their living room. One New York family recently received a shocking surprise when a cement truck crashed into the living room of their home. The truck accident tragically killed the driver and injured four others. Pending the results of an investigation, the injured victims may have grounds for a personal injury claim.
Various New York agencies responded to the scene of a recent truck accident in the Bronx. According to reports, a three-story home partially collapsed after a cement truck crashed into it. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. as the driver exited the Major Deegan Expressway. Multiple vehicles were struck by the truck before it slammed into a living room of the building.
Thankfully, none of the residents inside the home were injured in the crash. Four occupants of the vehicles hit by the cement truck as well as one firefighter were injured. Their injuries were not thought to be life threatening. The truck driver did not survive the accident.
Initial reports have not indicated what may have caused the fatal truck accident. If the investigation shows the truck driver’s negligent actions contributed to the crash, the injured victims may decide to pursue a personal injury claim against the driver’s estate and possibly the driver’s employer. New York residents injured in an accident as a result of another party’s negligence, may elect to seek restitution for their losses in civil court. A successful personal injury claim can assist victims with their financial recovery as they attempt to heal physically after a costly accident.
